General Meeting - Sept 14, 4 pm, Kuiper 312; Election reminder; Star Party/ Potluck reminder
Our next general meeting will be held on Monday, September 14th, at 4:00 pm in the Kuiper Space Sciences building, Room 312. The Space Sciences building is located just east of Flandrau Science Center near the intersection of University Blvd. and Cherry Ave. (map: http://iiewww.ccit.arizona.edu/uamap/staticLarge/92.html ). If you enter through the main doors facing the mall, go up the stairs/ elevator to the third floor and follow the signs. FYI, I expect this building and room to be the location of all future SEDS meetings this semester.
At this meeting, we will be holding our election for National Representative and Technology Officer. If you are interested in running for one of these positions and have yet to let me know, you have until Friday, September 11th (today!) at 5 pm to email me. If you have already notified me that you plan to run, your platform must also be sent to me by Friday evening (remember, this is optional).
This Saturday, I will then send an email giving a list of the candidates as well as their individual platforms. I will accept votes via email from individuals who are unable to make the general meeting. As a reminder, only dues paying members may run for an officer position or vote in this election. Dues can be paid before the election at Monday's meeting ($10 per semester, $20 for the year).
As a reminder, SEDS and Astronomy Club will be having a joint Star Party at Catalina State Park on Friday, September 11th (today!). Plan to meet in the parking lot between Steward Observatory and the Sonett building at 5 pm. Please email me if you plan to attend, let me know what you plan to bring for the potluck (food, $3.00, or otherwise), and let me know if you can drive other people.
I hope to see you all tomorrow at the star party! Let's hope the weather cooperates!
