General Meeting 2/8/10

UASEDS will have confirmed destinations for the California trip next week
UASEDS members will need to commit to the trip by next week
The UASEDS office hours are posted online and will be posted on the door of the office soon
UASEDS will put on an event for Yuri's Night, with LPL helping out
UASEDS will form a committee that will put the event together for Saturday, Apr 10th
UASEDS members that are interested in OSIRIS-REx wrote which project they were interested in
Matt Goodman gave a presentation on his project: "Solidification in Space"

officer 2/3/10

Kevin will finalize the plan for the California Spring Break trip
Kyle will talk to Josh & Chris Lewicki about contacts for the California trip
UASEDS will be going to Kartchner Caverns and Tombstone by end of February
Kevin will see how much are the tickets for gun show for Tombstone and the cost for Kartchner
There will be an email sent out to confirm who is going on the Tombstone and Kartchner trip
Kevin will contact the glass blowing people who will be making our bell jar
Bythe has keys and is on the credit account
Kyle will see if there is a club card to SamClub that UASEDS already owns
For UASEDS club meetings, we will try to get talks on the Rockoon project on the progress from the members, the Hamradio club, on recent space news/events, and volunteered student presentations
Kyle will see if we can get someone from Paragon to talk at one of the UASEDS meetings
UASEDS will plan for a Mirror Lab tour around April before LBT trip
Kyle will talk about Yuri's Night next meeting
Kyle is looking for ideas for the event, to have a group form a committee
LPL might help us with Yuri's Night
The main focus for Yuri's Night will be out-reach with a few lectures
LPL is hosting a Brown Lunch Bag for the OSIRIS-REx mission on Feb 26 from 12-1:30pm
Other small trips that UASEDS can take are to the IMAX in Phoenix and the Science Center in Phoenix

General Meeting 2/1/10

The new UASEDS Treasurer is Blythe Guvenen
UASEDS members that are interested in getting involve with OSIRIS-REx will be meeting at 5 pm on Tuesday
The $250 Award money will go towards purchasing a Bell Jar (Rockoon(), Bell Jar(16), LEGO mindstorms(14), Gas Money(4))
There is an Arizona rocket launch happening soon around late Feb that UASEDS member can go to either see rockets or launch their own rocket
UASEDS will take small trips to the MMT, LBT, and Kartchner/Tombstone (PIMA(5);TITAN(12);Kartchner/Tombstone(will go at some point);MMT(try to go))
Kyle mentioned the 2011 budget plan that involves NASA and space policy

officer 1/27/10

Triana will remind people of the candidacy of Treasure that is due on Friday at 5pm
There are 10 people that will be helping out with Flandrau event
UASEDS officers will be getting food for the picnic
Kyle will be emailing people that are coming to the Flandrau event and LPL event
The Out-Reach personal for OSIRIS-REx will be able to meet with students on Tuesday 5pm
Kevin will make a list of places to go for trips during February
UASEDS will be bringing out the UASEDS Telescope on the UA mall throughout the semester
UASEDS will look into volunteering for National SEDS out-reach projects
UASEDS will be looking to work with LPL for a public event on Yuri's Night
Mike Drake, UASEDS advisor, is in the hospital and there is a get-well card in LPL academic office?
UASEDS will plan for more Game Nights to occur in the semester
MathCats wants to partner up with UASEDS
UASEDS will invite MathCats to the Saturday picnic
There will be no UASEDS and ASCEND join up since ASCEND will be launching their payload soon
The National Public Relation might be a sub-position of National Chair with no voting rights

General Meeting 1/25/10

At the beginning of the meeting, all UASEDS members and officers introduced themselves to each other
The possible short UASEDS trips are Titan Missile Museum, PIMA Air and Space Museum, Large Binocular Telescope, Raytheon, Kartchner Caverns, a camping night with the telescope, and Colossal Caves
UASEDS members also have the opportunity to have observing runs at a few of the telescopes around Tucson
UASEDS members that are interested in these observing runs must submit a proposal
Contact Kevin (kevinkhu at email.arizona.edu) if you are interested in writing a proposal
The UASEDS big trip for the semester is a road trip around California, hitting sites like Vanden Air Force Base, Edward Air Force Base, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, NASA Ames Research Center, SpaceX, Scaled Composites, Masten Space Systems, Palomar Observatory, San Jose Tech Museum, and other sites around the San Francisco area
If UASEDS members know of any other places to go around California, please email Kevin
We will be leaving on Saturday, March 13, returning on either Wed or Thursday
The Ca trip will be a mixture of camping and hotel
The special Treasurer election will take place next meeting, Monday Feb 1
If UASEDS members are interested in such a position, please read over the constitution or Kyle's presentation for the duties of the Treasurer and condition to run for a position before emailing Triana (thenz at email.arizona.edu) with your intent and platform by 5pm on Friday (Jan 29th)
The Treasurer term will only last for the semester
At SpaceVision 2009, UASEDS won from ISU/AAS a $250 Diversity Award that we would like UASEDS members to propose ideas on how to use it affectively
Email Kyle (kyle824 at email.arizona.edu) with your ideas on how to best use the money
UASEDS will have a picnic lunch with the Astronomy Club on Saturday, Jan 30th from 11am-1pm at Reid Park
If UASEDS members are attending, please bring an item/food
Flandrau is having an event this Friday at 6:30-10pm that UASEDS members can help with operating the UASEDS Telescope
UASEDS members that are going to volunteer need to meet at the SEDS office
UASEDS was asked to help gauged student interest/create a group of students for the student-base project part of the OSIRIS-REx mission, one of three finalists in the New Frontiers program
If UASEDS members are interested in being part of the group of students for this mission, please email Kyle
UASEDS need about 7 volunteers for the Arizona Meteorite Exhibition Sat, Jan 30th from 5:45-9pm in LPL
If UASEDS members are interested in taking the Machine Shop course, please email Kyle (about 8 students need to be interested in order for the class to take place)
UASEDS Office Hours will be posted on the door of the office and online
UASEDS will arrange for members to be Flandrau volunteers, which will allow you to help out more directly with out-reach events by Flandrau and operate their 16 inch telescope that is open to the public
UASEDS dues are $10 for the semester
UASEDS have two Snack Stores, located in LPL and the office
UASEDS is looking for a member who is willing to maintain both stores, which requires the member to have a vehicle and a Sam's Club card or Costco card

Members of the Rockoon project may be able to receive class credit for the project
Kyle showed a video of the first commercial spaceship that's on youtube

officer 1/20/10

Officer hours have been decided for the President, Communication, Trip coordinator, and Technology officer
There is a Club Fair tomorrow that UASEDS will be at from 9:30 am to 2pm
Pye Pye isn't the Treasurer so Kyle will announce the special elections for that position
UASEDS members will submit ideas on how to use the ISU money we were awarded at SpaceVision
The UASEDS Snack Stores need to have someone that will be able to maintain them throughout the semester
The UASEDS Snack Store in the office will be restock and have new items
UASEDS will be helping with the Flandrau event on Jan 29th
Kyle will talk to Mike T about getting more SEDS members to be telescope operators
Rockoon Project members are working on getting class credit for the work they have put into the project
The launch for the Rockoon is scheduled to happen in Aug
Money that the Engineering Student Council might be giving UASEDS will be put towards the Rockoon project
The UASEDS Officers think that the UASEDS representation at the Engineering Student Council should be part of the National Rep position in the future
UASEDS members are asked to help with Arizona Meteorite Exhibition on March 30th from 5:30 pm - 9:00 pm
The first UASEDS meeting will be held in Steward N305 at 4 pm on Mondays
At the first UASEDS meeting, there will be free pizza and a short presentation on what is happening in space
Kyle hopes that there will be a possible UASEDS involvement in the ASCEND project
OSIRIS-REX is looking for student-base component for the mission
UASEDS members will come up with a list of what experiments or actions we would like to do for the OSIRIS-REX mission
UASEDS will visit the LBT in April
UASEDS will be holding a picnic at a local park on Jan 30th around noon
UASEDS will also be taking a trip in Feb, with the place to be announced
Triana will make a list of local space conferences that are coming up during this semester and summer that SEDS members can attend
UASEDS will help in some way for the people that are interested in going to ISDC 2010 in Chicago
