In the first phase, students have to submit their designs to the International SEDS committee by mail. The competition is for 100 marks and the division of marks being technical merit, creativity and presentation of which the former two criteria account for 80 marks which are decided during the first phase. Five participants, whose score is the highest of all, are chosen and they will present their design in person during the International competition where the final winner will be decided. *Prize money: *The event boasts huge prize money of a half tuition scholarship to ISU (International Space University) which is worth *7,000 euros.* *NAKSHATRA(*Paper/Poster Presentation Contest) *Topics:* Abstracts for Papers/Posters are invited in the following topics: 1. *Materials used in space re-entry vehicles* 2. *Clearance of space debris* 3. *Use of space technology/energy for human welfare* 4. *Protection of communication systems from solar flares* 5. *Extra-galactic astronomy* 6. *Planetary sciences* *Selection:* - Selection would be based purely on the Abstract submitted. - Decision of reviewers will be final and binding. * * *Description:* Typical Conference-style paper presentation contest, the selected participants will be asked to present a paper based on their abstracts. Presentations and Posters on the same shall also be made and the selected participants shall be suitably awarded certificates and cash prizes.* * ** ** *ROCK-IT* The event is all about design, build, and launch a water-jet rocket .It should return its payload (a raw egg) to Earth safely. The specifications of the rocket and safety measures to be taken have been specified on the webpage. The participants are expected to submit their reports by September 10, 2007. The participants will be evaluated on 100 points, of which 15 points will be decided as per the votes caste. There will be two panels of judges: Online Judges and Offline Judges. Rocket Design will be assessed by Offline Judges whereas Online Judges will judge the Rocket Performance. ** ** *SPACE VENTURA:* ** *Description:* * * The Space Ventura Competition purports to stimulate and cultivate the Entrepreneurial Spirit among students in business, engineering and the sciences. In particular, this competition seeks to encourage entrepreneurially oriented students to create and develop new ventures related to space exploration and commercialization based on either on their own ideas and technologies or those developed by others.
