Rocket Launch Competition

Pick a specific size rocket motor, give all of the members of your chapter a set deadline when they must have their rocket completed, find a launch site and launch the rockets one by one with a cheap altimeter (something like a G-Wiz LCX is good to have around, or try Featherweight Altimeters) to see whose rocket reaches the highest altitude.

There is no need to launch very large rockets, but if you’re ambitious, contact your local Tripoli or NAR chapter to find out when their next amateur launch date is so that you can join them for even bigger and better fun.
