Student Business Plan Competition

Date: TBD
Time: TBD
Location: Purdue University

The Student Business Pitch Competition seeks out proposals for space industry or space-scalable businesses from students who would like to pitch their idea to NewSpace investors and business leaders. “This competition is open to all undergraduate and graduate students from any university or college as well as nontraditional students (i.e. Thiel Fellows) and more than one team is allowed from each university.” It is highly encouraged that engineers and scientists work with business students to fulfill both the product development and proposal writing portions of the competition.

Furthermore, this year’s competition is focused around “investor ready” business ideas. For example, building a space hotel that orbits around Mars may sound awesome, but it probably won’t be a viable business for at least another decade. However, a company that wants to build scalable program to one day fulfill the goal of a Martian hotel may be! The great news is that SEDS-USA has found some outstanding advisors who will help you and your team develop your business model into an investor ready pitch that could be investor ready.

Want to participate in this year’s competition? First of all, please send an email to Thalansh Batra, the BPC project manager, and he will send you all the required information and reference material. As a heads up, you will need to formulate your executive summary, and a one page (less formal) description of your business. The deadline to submit this application is Tuesday, May 31st by midnight!

The 2016 student competition will take place at SpaceVision 2016 in West Lafayette, IN. First Place, Second Place and Third Place will be awarded cash prizes and student admission to NewSpace 2017.
